NTUC Foodfare has announced the opening of its latest outlet in Clementi Block 420A, aimed to be the first of Singapore's next generation of coffee shops in the HDB heartlands.

Set against the backdrop of the modern high-rise estates, the Foodfare outlet in Clementi adds affordability that coffee shops offer to HDB dwellers.

Apart from the popular NTUC Value Meals that feature special buys only for Union Members, the next generation of Foodfare coffee shops - starting with the new Clementi outlet - will introduce the following:

• Budget Pick:

Entry-priced budget meals - typically ranging from $1.80 to $3.00 for basic foods and less than $4.00 for other food types - are introduced to ensure the availability of low-priced meal options for the general public, especially the needy.

The Budget Pick initiative is part of Foodfare's scheme to create an ecosystem where its business partners form an essential part of its movement to "give back as they earn" to the community it serves.

Each stall is asked to provide a no-frills main meal (without compromising on quality) in addition to or as part of its menu.

• Public Assistance Discount:

As part of Foodfare's Community Goodness initiative, Public Assistance/Special Grant cardholders (under the ComCare scheme) get a further 10 per cent discount on Budget Pick meals.

• U Live Discount:

Senior Citizens can look forward to 10 per cent off all meals storewide on Tuesdays (not applicable for Value Meals, Budget Pick meals, or any other promotional items).
