In a post on his blog Thursday, Bay announced “TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!”
That’s shorthand for saying Bay has cast Fox in the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot being produced by his Platinum Dunes company.
The announcement comes as a surprise, given the falling out Fox and Bay had a few years ago. Fox played the female lead in Bay’s 2007 blockbuster “Transformers” and its similarly successful 2009 sequel
“Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.” The movies turned Fox into a ridiculously hot potential superstar, but then she did an infamous interview in which she tossed some major league insults at her director.
“He's like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation” Fox told Wonderland Magazine. “He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he's a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he's not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he's so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social skills at all. And it's endearing to watch him.”
Bay didn’t take Fox’s comments very well – Fox was out for 2011’s “Transformers: Dark Of The Moon”.
It’s worth noting that Bay isn’t directing “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” – he’s just producing it, with Jonathan Liebesman doing the day-to-day work on the CGI-fortified live action project.
“(Fox) sent me a text three months ago,” Bay said. “She said, ‘I hope you're doing well.’ I responded, ‘Who is this?’ She goes, ‘Megan, you dork!’ I said, ‘Oh, well, thank you, hope you're well.’ When you're days and months on a set, it's like a family. You say rude things and you make up.”
