Popular getai artiste and emcee Qi Xian, will be jailed for one week and fined $8,000 for drink driving and another traffic offence.

According to the Shin Min Daily News report, on Nov 6 last year at about 1am, Qi Xian was driving home after consuming alcohol when he encountered a police roadblock while turning into Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 from Ave 3.

His alcohol level was found to be above the limit, and he was also found to be driving in an unsafe manner, grazing a parked police bike parked by the roadside.

In his appeal, Qi Xian said that he was depressed that night as his wife, Zhu Li Li, the younger sister of the popular duo Mingzhu Sisters, said she wanted to leave him and he was also stressed taking care of his business.

He will be serving his sentence from March 25 as he has getai hosting engagements to complete. He had hoped to be sentenced for only a day, but due to a prior drink driving offence, his sentence could not be so short. He will have to post bail of $15,000.
