Singapore's Muslim community has raised about S$70,000 for victims of Typhoon Bopha in the southern island of Mindanao in the Philippines.

The Rahmatan Lil Alamin (Blessings to All) Foundation held a one-day collection at all 69 mosques on December 12, 2012.

The money will be handed over to Mercy Relief, the humanitarian relief organisation that is working alongside the Citizens' Disaster Response Centre in the Philippines.

The typhoon in December 2012 claimed about 500 lives and left over 28,000 families homeless.
