More teachers will be trained to teach the revised English Language syllabus that is targeted at upper primary students.

The Education Ministry said some 1,000 teachers at the Primary 4 level from 115 primary schools will be trained by the end of this year.

Under the Strategies for English Language Learning and Reading (STELLAR) programme, teachers learn ways to implement the English syllabus more effectively, to better engage their students in the learning of English.

Students learn to communicate more effectively through stories and tasks.
