Vilanova suffers relapse of tumour, steps down as Barca coach

Tito Vilanova, the Barcelona coach, has stepped down from his role at the Nou Camp after he suffered a relapse of a tumour on his saliva glands say reports.

Vilanova, 43, underwent surgery on a tumour in his glands last November, before later replacing Pep Guardiola as first-team coach for this season.

The La Liga leaders suspended their scheduled media activities for today amid reports in Spain concerning the health of coach Vilanova, reported The Daily Telegraph.

Barcelona released a press statement this morning announcing they had suspended all activities for today but did not go into details and did not mention Vilanova.

The club confirmed a further announcement would be made later today.
