Singapore outfit LIONSXII look set to name a youthful 29-man list for their second season in the Malaysia Super League.
Although the playing roster for the upcoming season has yet to be confirmed, it is understood that 12 players that represented the side last year have been retained.
They consist of a plethora of Singapore internationals who recently won the AFF Suzuki Cup, including captain Shahril Ishak, defenders Baihakki Khaizan and Safuwan Baharudin and midfielders Hariss Harun and Isa Halim.
However, it remains to be seen if Shahril and Baihakki will indeed play for the LIONSXII in 2013, with recent reports suggesting the duo have caught the eye of several Thai Premier League clubs after their impressive displays in Southeast Asia's premier international competition.
The most notable inclusion looks set to be Lions forward Fazrul Nawaz, who helped SAFFC to the RHB Singapore Cup last season.
A large number of the new side will come from Courts Young Lions, the Under-23 side that finished 10th in the Great Eastern-YEO's S.League in 2012, including skipper Hafiz Abu Sujad, right-back Faritz Hameed, midfielder Zulfahmi Arifin and promising attackers Faris Ramli and Shahfiq Ghani.
The LIONSXII open their Super League campaign on January 9 with a tricky trip to newly-promoted ATM, who reached the final of the Malaysia Cup last year before falling to treble-winning Kelantan.
