Singapore and Malaysia both win in pre-ASEAN Cup friendlies

Singapore stroll to 2-0 win over India in international friendly
THE Singapore national football team secured their second successive international friendly win with a comfortable 2-0 victory over India at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Substitute Khairul Amri fired the Lions ahead after 42 minutes, before turning provider for Fazrul Nawaz four minutes into the second half.

LionsXII forward Amri had come on for right-winger Shi Jiayi, who departed with a knock to his right ankle.

And his contributions helped Raddy Avramovic's side to a second straight friendly win, after they defeated Hong Kong 2-0 in August.

Malaysia coast to win in Hong Kong
Malaysia continued their preparation for the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup on Tuesday with a comfortable 3-0 win over Hong Kong at the Mong Kok Stadium.

Following a goalless first half, Harimau Malaya opened the scoring in the 59th minute when star striker Safee Sali found space inside the area and coolly slotted home.

Buoyed at taking the lead, K. Rajagobal's men began to dominate proceedings but struggled to add to their tally until the 81st minute, when talismanic midfielder Safiq Rahim came off the bench to net with a trademark freekick.

Ten minutes later, Felda United winger Ahmad Fakri Saarani, who was also a second-half substitute, made it 3-0 from close range after another Safiq freekick was spilled, capping off a fine evening for Malaysia.
