Maid jailed 20 years for killing employer's child

Indonesian maid Nurhayati (picture) first harboured thoughts of killing her employer as she could not endure his reprimands and looking after the family's disabled child.

On Nov 24, 2010, after being questioned by Mr Lee Kai Yam for waking up late, she snapped. After Mr Lee had left for work, Nurhayati - then 16 years and three months old - carried 12-year-old Linda Lee Yee Lin, who was physically and mentally disabled, to the 16th floor at Hougang Street 51 and pushed her off the block.

Nurhayati was yesterday jailed 20 years for the offence after she pleaded guilty in the High Court to a charge of culpable homicide.
