Police are investigating a 23-year-old man for making a false police report.

On 2 July 2012 at about 6.00 a.m., the suspect called “999” and reported that his motorcycle, which he had parked earlier at the void deck of Block 314 Jurong East Street 32, had been stolen by an unknown person.

Officers from Clementi Police Division follow up on the case and in the course of the investigations, many discrepancies were detected. Through skilful interviews, it was eventually established that the male subject had used his motorcycle while on disqualification. He had lodged the police report to avoid enforcement actions. Investigations against the subject are ongoing.

Anyone who is convicted for giving any information which he knows to be false to a public servant shall be punished with imprisonment of up to one year, or fined up to $5000, or both.
