National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan has set a goal for Singapore's park connector network and it is personal: He wants to cycle through all 200km of it.

But it is not "a personal ego thing", he said on Saturday at a dialogue in Sembawang. Rather, he wants to see first-hand where the gaps are in the network and how to make it more seamless.

He has already covered 40km in three rides over the past week. His ultimate goal is a network that will allow him to one day cycle from his Ang Mo Kio home to his office in Maxwell Road.

He also revealed that he is mulling over the idea of making parts of the city "car-free" on weekends.
