Details have emerged of a firefighter's Facebook post that led to his resignation and the suspension of a police officer and two firefighters.

The Columbus Packet obtained a copy of the post made by Columbus Firefighter Brad Alexander on his page criticizing a mother after her 2-year-old son was hit by a car.

Tyree Sparks, Jr. was being watched by a family friend when he suddenly ran into the front yard and into the street when a pick-up driving by hit him, on Aug. 20.

Sparks survived after being transported to the hospital.

Sometime following the accident, Alexander wrote on his Facebook page, "People never cease to amaze me. Mama yelling oh my baybee my baybee….Hey you stupid ass, where was babyeees mama at while your 2 year old was getting hit by a truck. Mama needs to have her guts cut so there wont be anymore babies. Freeloading ignorant woman"

After being aware of the specific details of the post, the Henley family may choose to take legal action, according to the article.

Following Firefighter Alexander's resignation, two firefighters and police officer who "liked" the comment were suspended for 30 days without pay.

Twelve other people also liked Alexander's post, but it is unclear if they have been identified or will have disciplinary action taken against them.
