CCTV cameras captured the moment robbers used a BMW 4x4 vehicle to crash through an Apple shopfront and then help themselves to a selection of laptops and iPads. The gang struck last week at an Apple shop in Temecula, California, using a BMW sport utility vehicle to crash through the front of the store.

Wearing masks to conceal their identities, they stole iPads and laptops but nearly found themselves without a getaway car after the BMW struggled to reverse through the shop's shutters, needing several attempts before escaping successfully, according to the Telegraph.

The robbers would not have stolen the iPhone 5 however, as the device would only go on sale on Sept 21.

A Los Angeles man has pleaded not guilty on multiple charges connected to the raid.
