SilkAir - the regional arm of Singapore Airlines (SIA) - has named Leslie Thng as its new chief executive with effect from September 3.

SilkAir said Mr Thng will be taking over from Marvin Tan, who will be returning to SIA as acting senior vice president for Cabin Crew Operations.

Mr Tan has been chief executive of SilkAir since October 2010.

Currently SIA's vice president for Network Planning, Mr Thng joined SilkAir as a board director in April 2012.

The 37-year-old has been with SIA for more than 13 years and has held positions in the head office as well as overseas.

In a media statement, SilkAir's chairman Mak Swee Wah thanked Mr Tan for his efforts, and looks forward to working closely with Mr Thng to further enhance SilkAir's role as the regional wing of SIA.
