A woman hung a piece of pork on the metal grill gate of units, locked their gates and scribbled loanshark graffiti on the walls while her accomplice acted as a lookout.

Ng Li Lian, 37, a former beer promoter, was on Tuesday sentenced to four years and four months' jail and fined $30,000 on six of 17 charges.

A district court heard that she and the co-accused Teo Siew Mui, 47, had borrowed money from two unlicensed moneylenders earlier this year as they were unable to pay their rent. Teo has since pleaded guilty and is due for sentencing on Aug 8.

When they could not repay their loans, they began working as runners for the two loansharks who offered them between $30 and $40 for scribbling on the walls of staircase landings to $80 for splashing paint and placing meat on the main gates of the debtors' units.
