One dead, one missing in boat collision off Penjuru Terminal

Police said the body of a man in his late-forties has been found, and another is missing after their pleasure craft was involved in a collision off Penjuru Terminal in Jurong on Saturday morning.

Two others are in National University Hospital with head injuries. Both are in a stable condition.

The master of the pleasure craft, SZ11614F, reported that his craft was involved in a collision with an unknown craft.

Hadmizan Abdullah is the only one out of 10 Singaporeans onboard a pleasure craft still unaccounted for, after a collision off Penjuru Terminal in Jurong.

The 34-year-old father of three is described as a kind and jovial man.

His eldest son is 14-years-old and his two other daughters are still in primary school.

It's understood the group had been out on a fishing trip.

Authorities received news of the accident around 9.30am and friends and family started gathering at Jurong Fishery Port as early as noon.

Mr Sapari Pagi, who is Mr Hadmizan's colleague at Shell Woodlands North Lubrication Plant for the past nine years, said his colleague went fishing regularly and last spoke to him on March 30.

"He was excited about going for this fishing trip. He also tried to ask me to go along, but I didn't feel like not going for fishing today. There's always a life-jacket in the boat, but I don't know what happened today," said Mr Sapari.

Channel NewsAsia understands that Mr Hamidzan's wife was at the scene earlier in the day but had to be taken home because she felt dizzy and unwell.

Mr Hadmizan is the sole bread-winner of his family.

"I'm just praying in my heart. He's like my brother, I just want him to be (okay), said Mr Sapari.

Two Maritime and Port Authority and one Police Coast Guard craft have been deployed for search and rescue operations.

Commercial divers have also been activated but little is known about how the accident took place.

Authorities say they have expanded the search area and will continue looking through the night.
