Expect heavy traffic at Causeways over Good Friday long weekend

Traffic flow at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints are expected to be heavy over the Good Friday long weekend.

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has issued a travel advisory urging travellers to plan their travels in advance to avoid peak periods.

Traffic is expected to build up from April 5 - a day before the public holiday on Friday - and high volume of traffic is expected until April 8.

If you must travel during the peak periods, ICA has reminded drivers to maintain lane discipline at all times.

The public is also encouraged to car-pool or use public transport.

Those issued with the BioPass or are registered with the National Registration Office are encouraged to use the enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System (eIACS) lanes at the bus halls for immigration clearance.

Travellers are also reminded to ensure that they are carrying their own passports before presenting themselves for immigration clearance at the checkpoints.

In addition, travellers should also make sure that they do not bring unlawful or prohibited goods into or out of Singapore. The list of controlled and prohibited items can be found on ICA’s website http://www.ica.gov.sg.

To check the latest traffic conditions at the checkpoints before embarking on your journey, commuters can call the traffic information hotline at 6863-0117, listen to TrafficWatch on the radio or visit www.onemotoring.com.sg.
