Over the next few months, players aged between 16 and 24 years old will be battling it out for that chance.
150 will be selected for a boot camp with 30 eventually competing in a country final.
The top five will then represent Singapore in a regional final in Indonesia in June, playing against footballers from the host country, Thailand and Malaysia.
Finally, the best four from the regional meet will head for Barcelona in August for the global finals and train at the youth academy.
LionsXII Coach V Sundramoorthy, who is one of the selectors, is looking for players too.
"The door is always open for the players to join LionsXII if they show they are good enough. If they are good enough why deprive them of an opportunity, [why not] give them a chance to join us?" he said.
