Body found floating at Sentosa beach

A body was found floating on the waters of Sentosa's Tanjong Beach on Saturday morning.

A member of the public who spotted the body made a police report at about 10.20am, according to Shin Min Daily News.

When the police and paramedics arrived shortly after, the man was pronounced dead on the spot at about 10.25am as he showed no signs of life.

The Chinese evening daily said that the deceased is a 29-year-old Malay man, known only as Mohamed.

It is believed that he was drunk the night before and could have somehow fallen into the water and hit his head against a rock.

He subsequently died from drowning.

It is understood that when he left the house the day before, he did not tell his family about his whereabouts.

When he did not return home on Friday night, he was thought to be missing.

A 49-year-old cleaner told Shin Min Daily News that she had actually seen the police making their rounds around the popular tourist beach seemingly searching for something or someone.

The man's female friend arrived at about 2pm to identify the body.

Police have classified it as an unnatural death and are investigating the case.
