Video: Police officer rescues two women from sinking car

A sheriff's deputy puled two women from a car sinking into Lake Ray Hubbard in Texas on Saturday in an amazing rescue captured on his patrol car camera.

The 28-year-old police officer brushed aside the rescue, saying:
'That's the whole reason why I do this job, to help people, it makes me feel awesome.'
The women allegedly got lost driving in the darkened Robertson Park in Dallas and mistakenly drove down a boat launch, thinking it was a road that would lead them to a highway.

Rockwell County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Rowan coincidentally was patrolling the lakefront at 1 a.m. when he spotted car lights shining out of the water about 30 feet from the shore.

The women yelled for help from the sinking car's backseat, telling Rowan that they couldn't swim.

Plunging into the water, Rowan waded to the car and smashed a window with a tool to free driver Ngac Do, 20 and her cousin Nhi Tran, 21. They suffered minor scratches from the broken glass, media reports say.

Rowan reached them seconds before the car slipped completely beneath the surface of the water.
