One month jail for for Haji for trying to record friend taking shower

The incident occurred on October 9 at Miss X's home when she and a friend, one Hj Muhammad Nasiruddin Dato Paduka Dr Hj Abdul Latif, decided to go out for a quick meal. Miss X told Hj Muhammad Nasiruddin she would take a shower before they left while he performed his prayers.

Shortly after this, he knocked on Miss X's room and asked her to make him a cup of coffee. While she was gone, he entered her bathroom and placed on the counter a video pen, a device which looks and acts like a pen but is capable of recording video images.

After Miss X returned with the coffee, she took a shower but after she was done she noticed a blinking blue light and spotted the video pen. She then plugged it into the computer and discovered images of her showering and drying herself in the bathroom.

Miss X went to confront the appellant who apologised immediately. The matter was reported to the police.

Hj Muhammad Nasiruddin, an acting assistant district officer, was originally sentenced to seven months by the Magistrate's Court for intending to insult the modesty of his friend, but he had his prison term slashed to just one month after an appeal at the High Court.
