Man ambushed and stabbed after getting off cab in Tampines

A 27-year-old man was ambushed and hacked by two weapon-wielding men, the moment he got off from a taxi along Tampines Street 21 yesterday at around 7.15am.

Two men allegedly set upon him, stabbing him multiple times. Though he managed to escape, he was pursued for 500 metres before the assailants caught up with him and pinned him to the ground.

According to eyewitnesses, the attack only stopped when someone in a nearby temple was alerted to the commotion and shouted at them.

The victim staggered to the void deck of block 259 Tampines, leaving a long trail of blood.

According to a statement from the police, the man was found with injuries, and conveyed conscious to Changi General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

According to an eyewitness, Mr Cai, four police cars were called to the scene. A section of the road was cordoned off, including parts of the HDB walkway, arousing the curiosity of residents and passersby.

A Wanbao reporter who was at the scene saw a brown package lying on the ground within the cordoned area. The package is believed to be linked to the case.
