44 Singaporeans nabbed in Johor for drug trafficking this year

The police have arrested 44 Singaporeans for drug trafficking in the state this year.

The most recent arrest involved a Singaporean man and a female Chinese national both, in their 30s, said state police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Shariff.

"The two suspects were caught on Oct 18 at a hotel room in the city centre and the police seized drugs believed to be Eramin 5 pills, ketamine and Ecstasy during the raid," he said.

The case is being investigated under 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, which carries a death sentence upon conviction.

DCP Mohd Mokhtar said the police would continue to conduct operations to ensure the streets in Johor were drug-free.
