2 men arrested for dishonestly receiving stolen loot worth S$1.4m

Two Singaporean men have been arrested by the Airport Police Division for dishonestly receiving stolen property worth an estimated S$1.4 million.

On September 20, an air cargo agent reported to the police that cargo containing some 3,400 pieces of electronic devices - believed to be Apple iPhones - was stolen from the Changi Airfreight Centre two days earlier.

Through intensive investigation, including close co-operation with the Royal Malaysian Police, the police managed to identify those involved in the theft and disposal of the stolen items. This eventually led to the arrest of two Singaporean men, aged 32 and 33 years old.

The police also recovered from the suspects stolen properties and cash amounting to about S$130,000, believed to be proceeds from disposing some of the stolen properties. Some 2,300 pieces of the stolen devices are believed to have been sent out of the country.

Both suspects will be charged in court today for dishonestly receiving stolen property with common intention.
