Teacher accused of having sex with 14-year-old student

A 41-year-old former teacher was charged on Friday for 18 counts of sex with a student and one count of attempted sex.

He allegedly attempted to have sex with the student in late 2007 in a room of the secondary school.

He then had sex with the student almost once a month for a year, from Nov/Dec 2007 to Dec 2008 in the same room at school.

He is also accused of taking the girl to the carpark at Upper Seletar reservoir park on six occasions in 2009, from Jan to mid-June.

The accused is out on $5,000 bail and cannot be named due to a gag order.

A pre-trial conference will be held on Nov 19.
