Good investigative work has led to the arrest of four youths aged between 15 and 18 years for their suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery in Hougang.
On 16 September 2011 at about 11.20pm, the two male PRC victims were returning home when they were confronted by four unknown Chinese subjects at Blk 313 Hougang Avenue 5.
During the ensuing encounter, one of the victims surrendered his handphone valued at about S$400 after being confronted with a knife. All four suspects fled the scene immediately thereafter.
Despite the lack of detailed description of the suspects, officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division pursued all possible leads and conducted extensive follow-up investigations which eventually led to the arrests of all four suspects at two separate locations in Punggol East and Rivervale Drive on 21 September 2011.
All four suspects will be charged in Court on 22 September 2011 for an offence of Armed Robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 and Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.
If convicted, they face a jail term of up to 14-years and shall be liable for caning of not less than 12 strokes.
