On 21 September 2011 at about 3am, a 22 year-old male Chinese was returning home at the vicinity of Blk 243 Serangoon Avenue 2 when two unknown male subjects approached him and demanded for his valuables at knife point.
The victim declined the duo’s demand and was attacked viciously resulting in injuries to his head and arms. Due to the fierce resistance and loud cries of the victim, both suspects fled without taking any of his valuables.
Through extensive follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division managed to establish the identities of the two male robbers, as well as, the mastermind who had instigated and planned the robbery. All three male suspects were arrested in Hougang on 26 Sep 2011.
All three suspects will be charged in Court 26 on 28 September 2011 for an offence of Armed Robbery with Hurt under Section 397 read with Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they face a jail term of up to 20 years and shall be liable for caning of not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
