Traffic Cop Rejects S$50 Bribe

On August 10, a lorry was pulled over along the Pan Island Expressway when Corporal (Cpl) Roslan Bin Abdul Rasip spotted that the driver did not have his seatbelt strapped.

When Cpl Roslan explained to him that it was an offence not to put on a seatbelt while driving, the 54-year-old driver pleaded with the officer and offered him $50.

Instead of getting off the hook, the officer arrested the driver for bribery.

This is the third time Cpl Roslan had rejected bribes.

Commander of Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Cheang Keng Keong, commended the officer, saying: "Cpl Roslan displayed impeccable integrity by remaining steadfast in his calling and not giving in to any temptation. He is a pride to the Singapore Police Force and an example to his fellow colleagues."
