Nomination Day has been set for Aug 17, which will be followed by a minimum of nine days of campaigning, as well as a Cooling-off Day. The nomination of candidates will take place at the People's Association (PA) in Jalan Besar.
Singaporeans will elect their next president on Aug 27, which will be declared Polling Day if there is a contest. The date, which falls on a Saturday, will be a public holiday.
There are currently five contenders seeking the office of Singapore's third elected president in the most hotly contested presidential race since the inception of the elected presidency in 1993.
They are:
1. Former deputy prime minister and former chairman of Singapore Press Holdings Tony Tan, 71
2. former Member of Parliament for Ayer Rajah Tan Cheng Bock, 71
3. Former NTUC Income chief Tan Kin Lian, 63
4. Former high-ranking civil servant Tan Jee Say, 57
5. Former chief financial officer of Jurong Town Corp Mr Andrew Kuan, 56
