Under new coach Solomon Casoojee, Singapore's under-18 team finished fourth at the under-18 Asia Cup here in June.
The under-21s performed even better at the Junior Asian Hockey Federation Cup, which ended on Sunday in Hong Kong.
They finished second, only losing to China on penalties in the final, with the match ending 2-2 after extra time.
South African Casoojee said, "The Chinese coaches said after the game that they were panicked because they didn't think we could play tactical hockey. They thought we were relying on our flair to get us over the line. But we were very tight, very well-structured and very disciplined."
