Despite being voted Player of the Year last season by Liverpool fans, Brazilian star Lucas Leiva could be leaving Liverpool.
Sources in the Merseyside club have revealed that the midfielder could be the victim of the club's spending spree on players in his position - Stewart Downing from Aston Villa, Jordan Henderson from Sunderland, and Charlie Adam from Blackpool for a combined £49 million.
As it is, there is already a surplus of midfielders at the club, with Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole, Raul Meireles, Alberto Aquilani, Christian Poulsen, Maxi Rodriquez, Jonjo Shelvey, Jay Spearing and Milan Jovanovic all fighting for a starting spot.
