The children were sold for about 63,000 yuan (S$11,760), according to a Chinese news report.

The couple, Li Lin and Li Juan, reportedly met at an internet cafe in 2007 when they were in their teens and bonded over their love for online gaming.

The Lis had their first child a year later, a baby boy.

According to media reports, they left the baby alone at home to play games at a local Internet cafe 30km away.

A baby girl followed in 2009, but they decided to sell her shortly after in order to fund their gaming habit.

The couple reportedly made 3,000 yuan (S$560) from the sale, and later sold their firstborn child for ten times that, at 30,000 yuan (S$5,600).

When their third child was born, they sold him as well, for the same price.

The couple were turned over to the authorities by Li Lin's mother, who found out what was happening to her grandchildren.

The Lis reportedly did not know that they had broken the law.

When asked if they missed the children, they replied: "We don't want to raise them, we just want to sell them for some money."
