Arsenal closing in on Jagielka

Arsenal are attempting to clinch a deal for Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka after submitting a new bid of around £15 million (S$29.5 million).

Arsenal had a £10-million offer for Jagielka rejected last week and it is understood that the new offer is worth some £5 million more than that.

Jagielka signed a four-year contract in March and is regarded by David Moyes, the Everton manager, as one of the club's most important players.
