On 25 April 2011, a victim reported that his motorcycle which was parked at the vicinity of Buangkok Crescent on 24 April 2011 had gone missing.
Following the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division worked on all possible leads to trace the stolen motorcycle. The breakthrough came when the victim’s friend spotted the motorcycle at the vicinity of Woodlands Avenue 1 on 6 May 2011 at about 2.30 pm.
On 6 May 2011 at about 4.00 pm, an officer spotted the suspect approaching the motorcycle but the suspect fled when being confronted by the officer. Immediately, the officer gave chase with the assistance of the victim who was also present. They managed to detain the suspect a distance away but the suspect put up a violent struggle.
At this juncture, two members of the public, Mr Razali Bin Omar and Mr Gerald Ng Jia Rong, came forward to assist in the arrest by assisting to restrain the suspect and calling for the Police, respectively.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 8 May 2011 for the offence of theft of motorcycle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a punishment of a jail term which may extend to seven years, and a fine.
