May Day: Both Hitler and bin Laden Announced Dead on May 1
On May 1, 1945, Germany announced that Adolf Hitler was dead, leading to the end of the allied campaign in Europe during World War II. That same date 66 years later, President Obama announced the death of the al-Qaeda leader and international terrorist.

SEAL Team Six ends hunt for bin Laden
The unit, called Navy SEAL Team Six, probably won't claim the credit publicly, however. The Navy SEALs, Rear Adm. Edward Winters, sent an email congratulating his forces and warning them to keep their mouths shut.

"Be extremely careful about operational security," he added. "The fight is not over."

Based in Virginia, the unit was established in the wake of the Iran hostage rescue disaster in 1980 and the unit now probably includes around 200 highly trained sailors.

Islamic leader condemns bin Laden sea burial
The procedure "contradicts all the religious values and human norms," it said: "The Grand Imam asserted that it is forbidden in Islam to deform the dead, regardless of their beliefs. One honors the dead by burying them."
