KUALA LUMPUR - TWO desperate lovers hatched a plan so that they could get hitched, but it went awry. Now they are in a knot.
They faked the kidnapping of the 'bride-to-be' and hoped her father would pay enough ransom money for them to get married.
At about 6.30pm on Sunday they sent out an SMS to the 25-year-old woman's father, believed to be businessman, claiming that she had been kidnapped and was being held hostage.
Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah said at 9pm, another SMS was sent to the father, this time requesting for RM47,000 (S$19,400) and a car to secure his daughter's safe release.
'We were notified of the latest development and immediately swung into action before making an arrest at 10.15pm on Monday at the KL Sentral,' he said.
Investigations revealed that the 26-year-old consultant and the woman, a staff nurse, had planned the kidnapping together. Police later took the 'rescued' woman into custody. Further investigations revealed that the man had difficulty raising enough money for the wedding feast and preparations.ORIGINAL SOURCE
