Radojko Avramovic's job safe, for now ...

Liverpool's Roy Hodgson, Gerard Houllier of Aston Villa and West Ham United boss Avram Grant are all feeling the heat as their clubs struggle in the Barclays Premier League, as is defending champions Chelsea's master tactician Carlo Ancellotti.

But the situation is much different in Singapore, even though the fans have been screaming for the head of Lions coach Radojko Avramovic, whose squad have had a miserable 2010, particularly after the team were booted out in the group stages at last month's AFF Suzuki Cup in Hanoi.

The masses have taken it even further, calling for the bigwigs at the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) to evacuate their Jalan Besar headquarters, in what is perceived as a regime that has seen Singapore football freefall under the stewardship of FAS general secretary Winston Lee.

But FAS president Zainudin Nordin has come out in full support of his management team, assuring the public that plans are in place and the backroom boys will soldier on.

He added: "If we're still struggling despite our efforts to implement change by the time the next annual general meeting comes around, we'll see what we can do then."

Said a former FAS employee: "If we are to change things in FAS, then we need change all the way up the management ladder, there are some there who are deadweight, they must also take responsibility for the faliures of the national team."

Said an S-League observer: "If the dearth of playing talent is pointed as the reason for the poor results, then the stark shortage of people with the ability and interest to take Singapore football forward should also be blamed.

"But who can come in to replace them? Maybe it's better the devil we know than the devil we don't."
