Gerrard sees red as Man U win
Steven Gerrard was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Michael Carrick as Kenny Dalglish's return as Liverpool manager ended in defeat against Manchester United yesterday.

Ryan Giggs's second minute penalty proved the only goal of this third round tie, but Gerrard's first-half dismissal all but ended Liverpool's hopes of a positive result at Old Trafford.

Dalglish, taking charge of his first Liverpool game since Feb 1991, had only arrived back in England hours earlier having cut short a cruise in the Persian Gulf.

Man City suffer Hart-ache in FA Cup draw
Manchester City manager Mancini appeared on course for a smooth path into the next round after goals from the Premier League side's James Milner and Carlos Tevez cancelled out a 44-second opener from Leicester's Sol Bamba.

But Hart's needless howler midway through the second half gave Championship Leicester another opportunity in a clash of their respective divisions' big-spenders.

FA Cup holders Chelsea thrash Ipswich 7-0
Ancelotti had conceded in the build up to the game that it would have come as no surprise if he had lost his job following the club's recent run of results. However, Frank Lampard and Daniel Sturridge both scored twice as FA Cup holders Chelsea cruised to a 7-0 rout of Championship outfit Ipswich Town on Sunday to set up a fourth round tie away to Everton.

Salomon Kalou, Nicolas Anelka and an own goal from Carlos Edwards also made the scoresheet as Carlo Ancelotti's side recorded a confidence-boosting win at Stamford Bridge that eased the pressure on the troubled manager.
