The Singapore Tennis Association (STA) are determined to make next week's selection trial for their $500,000 sponsorship grant a fair one.

From Dec 6 to 7, the STA will hold a trial at Keppel Club to select two juniors who will be funded to the tune of $250,000 each to train and play tennis full-time, in the hope that they will eventually be good enough to turn pro and join the men's ATP Tour or women's WTA Tour.

The seven-member panel set-up initially included a place for an official from the Singapore Sports Council (SSC).

The SSC have now told the STA they will only attend the trial as observers and not join the panel.
