Run and get rewarded with LiveRun (iPhone)

Launched last month, LiveRun, a homegrown iPhone app that employs the smartphone's built-in GPS to monitor your run and give you an analysis of your workout, might work and look like any of the other fitness apps available, but it's more than that.

First, the basics: The app measures the total distance you ran, the time taken to complete a run, and the pace of your run. You get voice feedback so you know how far you've run and how fast your pace is. Once you've completed your workout, the data is synced and stored online.

But LiveRun doesn't stop there. When you run, you earn chances to enter lucky draws. For instance, you can run 2km or more to get a chance to win a movie ticket or a spa treatment. A run a day earns you a chance in the draw. There's also a quarterly holiday giveaway where LiveRun will fly you to a destination that's 10 times the distance you ran so far.

Six weeks since its launch, LiveRun now has 2,000 registered members and was initially ranked second under the Health and Fitness category on the Apple iTunes App Store in Singapore.

It has already given out four weekly prizes and will be giving out an air ticket this week.

LiveRun will be available on more platforms, too, according to Ong. The beta BlackBerry version was launched earlier this week while Android will get its own early next year. Come next year, LiveRun will launch a run club to host run workshops and clinics by run coaches as well.
