AMK Police Nab Serial Cashcard Thief

On 21 November 2010 , a Police report was lodged where the victim, a 53-year-old man, had discovered his cashcard, cash amounting to about $130, and other personal documents stolen from his taxi.

Following the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division worked hard to solve the case and through investigative probes, managed to establish the identity of the suspect.

On 1 December 2010 at about 4.00 pm , the officers spotted the suspect in the vicinity of Upper Boon Keng Road and placed him under arrest.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 3 December 2010 for the offence of Theft from Vehicle under Section 379 of the Penal Code Chapter 224, which carries a maximum jail term of three years imprisonment, or with fine or both.

Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Hsu Sin Yun commended his officers for their good investigative follow-up and vigilance which led to the successful arrest of the suspect. He also advised members of the public to adopt simple crime prevention measures such as securing their vehicles and not leaving any valuables in them.
