Night parking: Reminders not summons, for now

SINGAPORE - Motorists who did not comply with the revised $4 night parking charge - which kicked in on Monday at Housing and Development Board (HDB) car parks - have had reminder slips stuck under their windscreen wipers.

They could have been slapped with a $30 parking summons.

"As the change only took effect a few days ago, there might be some motorists who are not fully aware and still display the old $2 coupon," said a HDB spokesperson. "For the initial period, we will exercise a certain degree of flexibility and remind motorists of the revised charge." Motorists can continue to use the $2 night parking coupons by displaying two such coupons.

But HDB did not reply to MediaCorp's query on the duration of the "initial period" when reminders, instead of fines, would be meted out. LINK
