'Heartbeat Molester' nabbed

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a 47-year-old Singaporean who is believed to be the culprit in at least three molestation cases that date as far back as 1999.

Dubbed the "Heartbeat Molester", he would mostly approach the victims at void decks or lift lobbies, pretend to ask for directions and then lead them to a staircase landing where he would ask his victims to feel his heartbeat before molesting them.

The victims were mostly girls between the age of eight and 12.

A police spokesman said a member of the public who saw the CCTV image published two weeks ago by the media came forward and provided information to the authorities.

Officers raided a flat in Compassvale on Tuesday and arrested the suspect.

He will be charged in court today and faces a jail term of up to 10 years and caning if convicted. LINK
