Football: Chelsea in second spot after Newcastle draw
NEWCASTLE, United Kingdom: Chelsea missed a chance to regain top spot in the English Premier League as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle United at St James' Park on Sunday.
Salomon Kalou's seventh goal of the season cancelled out an early strike from England forward Andy Carroll to lift the defending champions back above London rivals Arsenal into second place.
Chelsea now trail leaders Manchester United by two points in an intriguing title race after their second-half dominance failed to yield a winning goal.
This result left the Blues with just one victory and four points from their last five league games.
Goal drought irks Ancelotti
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti bemoaned his side's lack of goals away from home after watching them draw 1-1 at Newcastle on Sunday.
They wasted several opportunities and have now only scored once in their last three Premier League away fixtures - something Ancelotti wants to rectify.
"We were unlucky but we have to do better in front (of goal), away from home in three games we have scored just one goal and it is not enough and we have to improve," Ancelotti told Sky Sports.
"The performance was good, just I think we have to convert the shots we have."
Football: Lennon earns his Spurs against LiverpoolLONDON: Aaron Lennon's stoppage-time winner gave Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Sunday as Harry Redknapp's in-form side climbed up the Premier League table.
The win moved Spurs into fifth place but taking all three points had appeared beyond them when Martin Skrtel capped an impressive first half display by the visitors with a 42nd minute goal.
Tottenham rallied after the break, drawing level when Skrtel turned into his own goal moments after Jermain Defoe had spurned the chance to equalise from the penalty spot.
Then Lennon wrapped up the win when Liverpool failed to deal with a Peter Crouch flick and the winger ran into the box to finish past Pepe Reina.
Defeat was harsh on Liverpool, who would have established a more commanding lead had Fernando Torres not missed two good chances either side of half-time.
