Are gangs still active?

Letter from James Ang SINGAPORE is well known for having a safe environment for work and play.

So when 19-year-old polytechnic student Darren Ng was slashed to death in public, many Singaporeans were shocked by the brutality of the attack.

I am sure the incident has been the subject of much debate, with many questions being raised. There have been reports about secret society links. Are such gangs still active here and to what degree?

As a concerned parent, I am not as confident as I used to be about the safety of the places where youth gather.

While I am glad the police have managed to arrest four people, I wonder how many more are at large?

I feel the police must step up patrols and checks at strategic and random locations. The police must make their presence more visible. One young man's life lost to such a brutal attack is one too many. LINK
