Woman punched, kicked and bit NEA officer who caught her littering

District Judge May Mesenas heard that Ng was smoking with a hairdresser friend at the side entrance to the hawker centre near Block 270 Queen Street on April 23. Two undercover NEA officers saw Ng throw a cigarette butt in a drain at about 12.30pm.

Officer Gooi Chong Haw, 21, went up to her to issue a summons but Ng turned around and walked away. The two officers caught up with her some metres away but Ng remained uncooperative. To stop her walking away, Mr Gooi spread his arms wide and stood in front of her.

Ng turned violent and punched Mr Gooi's right cheek and had to be restrained while his partner called the police. Ng continued to struggle and bit Mr Gooi twice on the left arm and kicked his groin twice.
Jileen Ng Sin Geok pleaded guilty on Thursday in a district court to hurting a public servant and was jailed two weeks.

She could have been jailed up to seven years and fined up to $10,000. In contrast, the maximum fine for littering is $1,000. LINK
