SIA's SQ22 takes off ... minus 1 wheel

SINGAPORE - As the Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane took off from Changi Airport on Monday, it left something behind - a wheel had fallen off.

Around 19 hours later, the Airbus A340-500 aircraft still managed to land safely in New York.

MediaCorp understands that, after Flight SQ22 took off from Changi Airport on Monday, the pilot retracted the landing gear and the plane's sensors indicated a missing wheel.

Airport workers later found it in a drain near Changi Airport's Terminal 3. MORE
