Football: Home United's title hopes fading

SINGAPORE: Three Lions slumped on the turf after referee Abas Daud blew his whistle to end proceedings at the hazy Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday night, knowing full well their dreams of the Great Eastern-Yeo's S-League title were effectively over.

Home United were lucky to escape with a 1-1 draw against a gutsy Gombak United and the trio of internationals, Lionel Lewis, Juma'at Jantan and Rosman Sulaiman - one with his head between his knees, the other two with their heads in their hands - illustrated the gravity of the result.

With 64 points, Home are level with leaders Etoile FC but have played one game more. The French side face the Young Lions on Saturday, while third-placed Tampines Rovers (63) take on Sengkang Punggol. LINK
