SBS to add 600 new buses

There have been complaints about the current buses not being friendly for older folks as some have difficulty climbing the steps safely while the bus is moving.

Hence, bus operator SBS Transit is adding 600 new buses to its fleet from next year, and half of them are elderly friendly single-deck buses without steps in the aisles.

It will cost SBS $110 million for the 300 Mercedes Citaro. The bus is flushed flat from the front of the bus to the rear, unlike most of the single-deck buses which require passengers to climb up at least two steps which are part of the aisle. MORE
