Militants storm police station, kill three Indonesian police

MEDAN: Suspected Islamist militants killed three Indonesian police officers Wednesday in an apparent retaliation for the arrest and killing of members of their group, police said.

Twelve gunmen stormed a police station at Hamparan Perak, near Medan on Sumatra island, and opened fire shortly after midnight, police spokesman Iskandar Hasan said.

"Three policemen were killed. It was a sudden attack and our officers weren't ready," he said. MORE
